In Spain, around 8.5% of the population is disabled, that is, they have physical, mental, intellectual or sensory deficiencies. This is a topic that is rarely discussed in society, it can be considered a taboo, but why are there prejudices about these people? We tend to judge people before meeting them, just by their physical appearance, and this is what is done with disabled people. When talking to them, they are treated differently simply because they are in a wheelchair or have a syndrome. If we put ourselves in their shoes we wouldn't want that to happen. On many occasions there are people who laugh at these people because they are different and no, they are not. That they have difficulties to carry out an activity does not mean that they are not people; moreover, each person masters something and it is more difficult for them to carry out other activities. It would be good if we respected each other for being people, not for how we are or for our difficulties. The disabled have their rights and they also have feelings, things affect them like everyone else. Before acting it is better to stop and think.— Lourdes Estruch Francés. Valencia.
