2017 began with several complaints of actions against animals, both domestic and wild.

One of the most notorious cases was at the end of January and occurred in Riohacha. A Creole dog was covered with tar and stuck to the ground. Apparently, it was an indigenous who did it, but there were no arrests by.

Another of those striking cases happened in the first days of February and took place in (Antioquia), where a dog of the Pitbull breed was drowned in a local river. They tied her to a sack full of stones, which showed the intention to drown her. Three young people recorded images of when they found her, already dead, and made the event visible.
