Converting fractions of an hour to minutes (cont)
Some fractions of an hour will not result in an exact number of minutes. To convert these fractions, multiply the fraction by 60 then round to the nearest minute.
Example of converting fractions of hours
Improper fractions of an hour
An improper fraction of an hour may be converted into hours and minutes by first converting the improper fraction into a mixed number, eg 12/5 h = 2 2/5 h. The whole number is the number of hours. The proper fraction is converted into minutes.
