En el caso del presente continuo, para obtener el negativo se le agrega not al verb to be. Entre paréntesis escribo la abreviación, que es informal.

The students are not (aren't) having an exam now.

My mother is not (isn't)cooking at the moment.

My sister is not (isn't) a song right now.

I am not ('m not) eating an apple.

The cats are not (aren't) drinking water now.
