Blood as it travels through the body follows two circuits, one to purify it and the other to distribute it throughout the body

In its journey through the body, the blood goes through two circuits: one to cleanse itself and oxygenate itself, and it is the short or minor circuit and only the heart and lungs intervene in it.

This process is carried out as follows: the blood leaves the right part of the heart and reaches the lungs, leaving carbon dioxide in them and picking up oxygen, returning to the heart on the left side and from there it goes to the larger circuit or long that runs through the body.

In this gas exchange, substances harmful to the body are also filtered, such as nicotine from tobacco and other aerosol or addictive substances, so they should be avoided to prevent diseases.

The other circuit is the largest or longest and is formed by an implied network of capillaries responsible for carrying blood to all the cells of the body.

This circuit begins in the left part of the heart, which pumps oxygenated blood with great force towards the aorta artery, which branches off, so that a vein or capillary vessel reaches each part of the body and with it the blood.

The blood that is pumped from the heart enters the arteries, because they are stronger than the veins and in this way can withstand the enormous pressure of the pump. It is red in color because it comes out oxygenated after passing through the lungs. It travels throughout the body and leaves in each cell the oxygen and nutrients that it collects from the small intestine and in return, takes the waste they produce from them, to leave them in the organs of the excretory system that will be responsible for expelling them from the body, mainly in the kidneys.

When it finishes going through the whole body, it returns to the right part of the heart and the process begins again.

This return is done through the vena cava, the upper one collects the blood that comes from the brain and the arms and the lower one from the rest of the body and as it has collected waste substances from the body on its way, it now has a bluish color.
