Fototropismo:
Los pinos son unos árboles cuyas hojas no necesitan del calor del sol para crecer de modo que aunque sí que necesitan de la luz, será raro que veamos como crecen hacia ella. Es más suelen crecer buscando siempre el frío.
Otro ejemplo sería el Irupé o Camalote, una planta adaptada a vivir sobre todo en el agua, aunque parte de ella esté en el exterior. Si encuentra luz suele alejarse ya que indica que se encuentra en un ambiente seco, algo que no le permite desarrollarse como debe y que en definitiva le puede hacer morir
Phototropism:

Another example would be the Irupé or Camalote, a plant adapted to live mainly in water, although part of it is outdoors. If it finds light it usually goes away as it indicates that it is in a dry environment, something that does not allow it to develop as it should and that can ultimately make you die

Así como las raíces van a favor de la gravedad, los tallos de las plantas van siempre en contra y en ello evidencian un geotropismo negativo. Esto se debe a que al germinar usualmente bajo tierra, los tallos requerirán emerger a la superficie para poder luego exponer las hojas al aire y recibir luz solar. Si crecieran como raíces, jamás darían con un ápice de luz.
GEOTROPISM
Just as the roots are in favor of gravity, the stems of the plants are always against and in this they show a negative geotropism. This is because when germinating usually underground, the stems will need to emerge to the surface in order to later expose the leaves to the air and receive sunlight. If they grew as roots, they would never hit an iota of light.

Fototropismo negativo: Es la tendencia que tienen algunos tipos de plantas para alejarse de la luz solar. Un ejemplo de ello son las raíces, que crecen contrarias a la dirección del sol, pero aprovechan la humedad y los nutrientes del suelo.
