The Mediterranean Sea, the political, economic and cultural expansion of the Greek and Roman civilizations in ancient times. Unlike the Egyptians, Mesopotamians and Chinese who settled on the banks of rivers, the Greeks and Romans settled on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
