Mike was having dinner, (while) Lucy (was putting) the children to the bed.... chekea tu grammar ahi mi hija.... Past contonous + PAST SIMPLE...

Que yo sepa Lucy NO interrumpe la acción de Mike. Las dos acciones ocurren a la vez...
Y aquí no pone nada de past continuous + past simple, sólo hay que hacer oraciones con when y con while. Por lo tanto, mi respuesta está bien.
