Dance or dance is an art where body movement is used with music, as a form of expression and social interaction for entertainment, artistic, reproductive and religious purposes.
It is the static and displacement movement that occurs in space and time that takes place with a part and the whole body of the performer, with a certain rhythm or rhythm as an expression of individual feelings or symbols of culture and society. Dance is also a form of communication; Non-verbal language is used among human beings where the dancer expresses feelings and emotions through their movements and gestures. It is done mostly with music, be it a song, piece of music or tones.
The first to recognize dance as an art were the Greeks who dedicated a muse to their mythology. Terpsichore. Its practice was linked to the worship of the god Dionysus and, together with poetry and music, it was an indispensable element of the Greek tragedy, where catharsis put the individual in relation to the gods; although also among the Greeks the dance fulfilled a function of communication and social cohesion.
Within dance there is choreography, which is the art of creating dances. The person who creates choreography is known as a choreographer. The dance can be danced with a varied number of dancers, ranging from solo, in pairs or groups; but the number generally depends on the dance to be performed and also on its objective, and in some more structured cases, on the idea of the choreographer.
The fundamental elements of dance are: Body, action, space, energy, time. The dances are full of ritual and religious elements, they are created with a wide imagination and powers that determine the identity or personality of a people, today we keep them as artistic manifestations.
Dance and theater are related since the two make use of the body and movement to express themselves.
