Watching TV families watching TV
We’re Watching You is a simple but great idea; put a tiny camera on the front of the TVs in several family homes, record the families, and then make it into a TV show. And that’s all it is, a TV show about real people watching real TV. Exciting? Not really. But it is very funny.

Of course, all the people on the show agree to have a camera on their TV, but they soon forget it’s there and then the problems start.

There is the Collins family from Dallas, Texas. Mike, the dad, can never find the remote control and soon starts yelling at his kids, Joe and Lucy, to find it. Of course, as his wife Anna says, he always finds it – he’s usually sitting on it. Anna only wants to watch movies, her husband likes TV shows about food and cooking, Joe wants to watch cartoons, and Lucy wants a quiet house without TV. No one usually gets what they want.

And then there’s the Lawson family from Scarsdale, New York. They sit down together and watch a movie every Saturday night. It always starts off well, but soon there’s trouble. Grandpa John can’t hear very well. He always wants to turn the volume up.

This upsets his daughter, Georgia, who hates the loud noise. So Grandpa turns it down, but then he asks his grandson, Paul, to tell him what people are saying. This drives Paul crazy. And then his mom often walks in front of the TV into the kitchen to get a snack. Poor Paul – he doesn’t want any snacks. He just wants to watch the movie.

We’re Watching You is fun to watch, but I’m glad these cameras aren’t in my home!
