4th July - Independence Day:
On Independence Day, we often decorate the house in red, white and blue because they are the colours of ouf flag. We have a party at home and we sing special songs. We don't wear costumes but we often wear red, white and blue clothes or a flag pin. We watch street parades in the afternoon.
25th December - Christmas:
Here, Christmas is in the summer holidays - it's often hot, about 30°C! We always decorate a Christmas tree, send cards and give presents. Some people go to church. On Christmas Eve - 24th December - we usually visit relatives and eat special food. We watch fireworks at 12.00 am to celebrate the start of Christmas Day. Then we have fun opening presents. We usually go to bed very late!
