Finally, three great empires are installed in these areas: the Ottoman, after the conquest of Constantinople in 1453; the Safavid from 1501 in Persia and the Mughal from 1526 in India. In each of them, a nationalist sentiment was fostered that translated into different artistic expressions and in which the habitual transfer of ideas and artists is not appreciated.
In 1299 Osman I seizes power and founds the Ottoman dynasty who will eventually conquer Byzantium. In the green mosque of Nicea the continuity of the previous forms is observed, but from the fourteenth century a new style is created. The dome is developed, and the madrasah is unified with the rest of the building, through a system of domes, in the manner of Saint Sophia of Constantinople. Thus, the centralized mosque was born.
The mosques of Suleiman I, that of the Prince and the blue mosque are made. The Turkish type of mosque spreads to the East and to a lesser extent to the West. The center of the entire structure is the dome, which allows light to enter, thereby enhancing the harmony and beauty of the proportions.
These four great stages imply particular internal rhythms that will mark their development from the origins of Islam to the present day.
