Natural daughter of Gladys Baker a film maker and one C. Stanley Giffert, baker street which became a producer and director. It was given the name of Norma Jean in honor of his mother to the silent film actress Norma Talmadge. He was given up for adoption at six weeks old. Much of his childhood was spent in foster homes and orphanages families. His father had abandoned them and her mother was admitted to a mental hospital with symptoms of depression.
In 1942 she married James Dougherty, a factory worker of aeronautical equipment, Marilyn also worked reviewing parachute. His life changed when the magazine Yank noticed her and offered to pose as a model. He soon became famous and in 1945, it was known as the "photographers dream." He appeared on 33 covers of national magazines. In 1946 she divorced and moved to Hollywood.
He signed contract with FOX renaming. Marilyn was an invention of Lyon (old actor turned casting director of the Fox), and Monroe was the maiden name of his mother. In 1949 he met Johnny Hyde, (who discovered including Rita Hayworth and Lana Turner) William Morris agency, who became his mentor and lover. That same year she appeared naked in the possibly most famous calendar of all time.
Hyde convinced that it would be submitted to plastic surgery to reduce a small lump that was on the tip of the nose and rectify the beard line by suppressing cartilage jaw. In 1948 he sang his first song in a movie, Ladies of the Chorus (Ladies Choir). Although it was in 1950 when he played his first serious role in The Asphalt Jungle (The Asphalt Jungle) who started the myth.
He studied at Lee and Paula Strasberg's Actors Studio, New York. In 1953 he was proclaimed the most popular actress in the magazine Photoplay, and his name was among the top ten grossing stars of that year. He agreed to roll There's No Business Like Show Busines (Show Business) in exchange for playing The Seven Year Itch (The Itch), Billy Wilder.
I divorced DiMaggio, her second husband in early 1955. In 1956, he married again, this time with playwright Arthur Miller. In 1957 he founded his own production company Marilyn Monroe Inc. debuted with The Prince and the Showgril (The Prince and the Showgirl). It was filmed in London and the direction and interpretation were provided by Laurence Olivier.
In 1958 returns to Hollywood to film Some Like It Hot (Some Like It Hot), Billy Wilder. During the filming of Let's Make Love (Billionaire) lives an affair with French actor Yves Montand. Wheel after The Misfits (Misfits) scripted by Miller and directed by John Huston. It is hospitalized for a week for nervous exhaustion and finishing filming the dissolution of her marriage to Miller was officially announced. In the winter of 1961 he is admitted to a mental hospital.
Through knows Sinatra and Peter Lawford, by this, his brothers, the Kennedys. Madison Square Garden attends the anniversary party of President John F. Kennedy, and sing Happy Birthday in front of more than twenty thousand people. It was the last massive appearance he made.
With 30 films leaving one of them, "Something's Got to Give" without being completed, despite their uneven filmography and the fact of never having been nominated for the Oscar, went much further than most of the stars of any time. On the night of August 5, 1962 Nembutal tube was taken and was not the party at Peter Lawford, which certainly had to find with Robert Kennedy, with whom she had secret relations. It is said that night called the White House and the FBI erased all the tapes.
