Halloween is a holiday of pagan origin celebrated on the night of October 31,
During that night the spirits of the deceased were believed to walk among the living, and sacred festivals and rites were performed that included communication with the dead. The Druid priests went from house to house demanding all kinds of strange foods for their own consumption and to offer it later at the festival of death.
If people refused their demands they spoke a demonic curse about the home, and the story goes that someone in that family died during the year.
They used to place a burning candle inside a pumpkin inspired by the popular legend "Jack the stingy", who managed to deceive the devil. The first parade took place in Minnesota in 1921. In the 1970s television and especially cinema made the party popular.
