It was raining very hard when the bus left the school. When we got home, my Aunt Carol and Uncle Arthur were waiting for us. They told us to run into their basement. When I looked up the road, I saw that a tornado was coming towards our house. We all ran towards the shelter. But it was too late. The tornado passed over us while we were trying to get down the stairs. We were closing the door when the wind suddenly pulled it of. The noise was as loud as a train, lifted it and threw it against a wall. Everybody screamed for help while the tornado was throwing things on top of us. Suddenly the wind stopped and it became very quiet. My uncle and sister were hurt, but we all survived.

Estaba lloviendo mucho cuando el autobús salió de la escuela. Cuando llegamos a casa, mi tía Carol y mi tío Arthur nos estaban esperando. Nos dijeron que corrieramos a su sótano. Cuando miré hacia la carretera, vi que un tornado se estaba acercando a nuestra casa. Todos corrimos hacia el refugio. Pero fue demasiado tarde. El tornado pasó sobre nosotros mientras intentábamos bajar las escaleras. Estábamos cerrando la puerta cuando el viento la arrancó de repente. El ruido era tan fuerte como el de un tren, la levantó y la arrojó contra una pared. Todo el mundo gritó pidiendo ayuda mientras el tornado estaba arrojando cosas sobre nosotros. De repente, el viento se detuvo y se volvió muy silencioso. Mi tío y mi hermana estaban heridos, pero todos sobrevivimos.
