William Shakespeare was born on April 23 1564, in Stratforfd-on-Avon, England. He went to a good local school, where he probably studied Latin and Greek. In 1577 there were some difficulties with money in his family, and William started to work in the family bussiness of glove-making.

  In 1583 he married Anne Hathaway- They had three children.

  In the late 1580's Shakespeare went to London, where he stayed for most of his life. He wrote plays and, with some of his friends and fellow actors, helped to build his own theatre, The Globe.

  Shakespeare died on his birthday in 1616.
