Definition of slavery:
Slavery is the word to describe the condition of one human being owned by another person. In old ages, slaves were considered part of the properties of the owners and landlords. Slaves were deprived from the rights that free people had. For instance, a slave would work during the whole day for their owners, and they would not get a salary nor was able to get a property. The only kind of income slaves received were food, and shelter to live; those shelters were usually in pretty bad conditions.
Sometimes slaves were considered to be less human than their owners for they came from a different background (racism). During the immigration of Europeans to the Americas, slavery was used to pay debts. Slaves worked for their "owners" till debts were paid off, and they could obtain their freedom afterwards.
