Why do you think we use "n-1" as the exponent for the explicit formulas of Geometric Sequences?

We do use "n-1" for the formulas because of an international convenion. Even though, this expression is quite useful, because it allow  us to express diferent operations with a number we don't yet identify or just generic expressions
