Choose whether each sentence requires a possessive adjective or a possessive pronoun.

Elige si cada oración rquiere un adjetivo posesivo o un pronombre posesivo.

Translation 1: ¿Es ése tu cuaderno o es el mío? (pronombre)

2. I don't like______(their/theirs) apartment.

Answer 2: I don't like their apartment. (adjective)

Translation 2: No me gusta su apartamento. (adjetivo)

3. That's not my problem. It's_________(yours/your).

5. Isn't_________(their/theirs) son older than you?

Translation 5: ¿No es mayor su hijo que tú?

6. A friend of______(our/ours) called.

10. Is he a friend of_______(your/yours)?

Answer 10: Is he a friend of yours? (pronoun)

Translation 10: ¿Es él amigo tuyo? (pronombre)

Explicación:

Cuando el modificador posesivo modifica al nombre es un adjetivo posesivo. Si el modificador posesivo sustituye al nombre es un pronombre posesivo.

En español el adjetivo posesivo su, se traduce al inglés dependiendo del sujeto:

Su = his => su, de él , Su hijo = His son. (de su padre)

Su = her => su, de ella , Su hijo = Her son. (de su madre)

Su = their => su, de ellos , Su hijo = their son. (de sus padres)
