1. Estructura afirmativa

Sujeto / pronombre + auxiliar to have en pasado (had) + been + verbo gerundio + resto de la oración.

Pronombre Conjugación
I had been
You had been
He had been
She had been
It had been
We had been

They had been

Ejemplos:

She had been preparing her entrance exams for 1 year - Ella había estado preparando sus oposiciones durante un año.
They had been waiting for us until they went - Ellos nos habían estado esperando hasta que se fueron.

2. Estructura negativa

Sujeto / pronombre + auxiliar to have en pasado y en negativo (hadn't) + been + verbo gerundio + resto de la oración.
