Aunque el uso de tiempos verbales explicado en los párrafos anteriores es bastante común en los cuentos, lo más lindo de éstos es que no estén limitados por reglas estrictas. Por eso, una vez que se entiende bien para qué sirve cada tiempo verbal, se puede ejercer la libertad para usarlos de manera tal que contribuyan a darle colorido y vuelo a los cuentos, que de otra forma serían simples relatos como los que se leen en las noticias de los diarios.
