Of the block of cheese whose original weight is 2 kilos, the customer buy a quarter (1/4) part, three quarters (3/4) parts remain, so it now weighs 1.5 kilos.

Data:

Weight of the cheese block = 2 Kg

Since the block of cheese represents unity, by removing a quarter it is:

Remaining Cheese = 1 - 1/4

Remaining Cheese = (4 - 1) / 4

Remaining Cheese = 3/4 parts

Applying the Rule of Three, the weight of the remaining cheese is obtained.

2 Kg → 1 block

X → 3/4 block

X = (2 Kg x ¾ block) / 1 block

X = 3/2 Kg = 1.5 Kg
