En el caso de los clauses of purpose serían las siguientes:

  • I went to Madrid to learn Spanish.
  • I went to Madrid so as to learn Spanish.
  • I went to Madrid in order to learn Spanish.
  • I hurried so as not to miss the final test.
  • I hurried in order not to miss the train.
  • I’m learning Spanish so that I can work in Argentina.
  • I’ve come here not to argue with you, but to apologise for what I’ve done.
  • I’ve come here not so as to argue with you, but to apologise for what I’ve done.
  • I’ve come here not in order to argue with you, but to apologise for what I’ve done.
