The world emissions of CO2 from the combustion of fossil fuels have an environmental impact and currently still growing. This investigation focuses on the use of solar energy as renewable primary source energy, for the production of domestic hot water through the use of a solar thermal collector. To experiment, a solar thermal collector coupled to a water circuit and an automatic monitoring temperature system controlled by Arduino was built. The research aims to verify the viability of the system experimentally, analyzing the temperature increase both inside the collector as in the tank of the built circuit and comparing it with the external temperature. The results show that there are significant differences between the accumulated heat energy inside the collector and the transmitted to the liquid, this is due to energy losses in the circuit. Both external factors such as wind and lack of solar intensity and the technical limitations of the study, influence the low increase of the temperature of the fluid respect to the inside temperature. In conclusion, the condition in which the experiment did it, didn't allow to show the effectiveness of the collector, despite meeting the objective of transmitting the heat energy to the liquid. This doesn't mean that research on this energy is abandoned since it’s a free source, clean, renewable and specifically with a lot of future and projection ahead.
