To make voting compulsory.

Explicación:

Hello!

Compared to many democracies in the world, the US has an exceptional political system. A coup d’état has never occurred, and almost each president has been elected via democratic elections (with some restrictions during the 18th, 19th and part of the 20th century) however, voter turnout for election is relatively low, compared to European countries. For example, turnout for 2018 election was the highest in one hundred years, but only reached 50% of the electorate, compared to 82.61% in Sweden, 80.34% in Denmark and 77.31% in the Netherlands of voters in most recent national election.

If only half the population participate in election, then there's not a real democracy. Fewer voters encourage political leaders to take harmful decisions, which in most cases favor minorities over the rest of population. Besides, this threatens the government's credibility.

In my opinion, the solution is to make voting compulsory. Some of the countries with compulsory voting, have the highest voter turnout in the world, for example Belgium (87.21%), Australia (78.96%) and South Korea (77.92%). If the majority of population participate in democratic elections, then more people will be represented in the government's decisions.

Hope this helps!
