DEER

The deer, also known as deer, is a mammal of the deer family (Cervidae). It is a relative of reindeer, elk, roe deer and 44 other species, many of which are endangered. Of them, the elk is the largest and most robust, and the roe the smallest.

CHARACTERISTICS

When standing, deer can measure almost a meter and a half tall. Its weight ranges between 40 and 200 kilos. Males are the only ones that have horns, except the Chinese water deer, which has fangs. However, in the case of reindeer, both sexes develop antlers.

The deer are long and thin legs, with two hooves in each. Its head is long and thin, similar to that of horses.

Their ears are formed by many muscles, so they can move them without having to turn their head or body. His eyes are located on each side of the head, and allow him to observe the landscape with a 310 degree view.

During winter, deer are usually passive. This saves energy for the summer. They leave what is necessary to find the nutrients required for their livelihood.

They can run at a speed of 40 miles per hour over small distances and are very good swimmers.

Many times deer die because they get caught in wire fences or get entangled with each other with their horns, trying to scratch each other. If they spend a lot of time and don't know how to free themselves, they starve to death.
