The giant panda is an insatiable eater of bamboo. An average exemplary half the day is spent eating-literally: 12 every 24 hours-and makes their needs dozens of times a day. It takes 12.5 kilos of bamboo to meet the daily nutritional needs of a giant panda, who eagerly started stalks with elongated bones of his wrists, thumbs way of using them. Occasionally they also eat birds or rodents. Pandas are only found in the wild in remote mountainous regions of central China. There the high bamboo plantations are cool and wet as they like. In summer you can climb to 4,000 meters to find their food in the higher slopes. It is common to see pandas eat relaxed sitting on the ground with its hind legs stretched forward. While giving the impression of being sedentary, climb trees with great skill and are excellent swimmers.
