Look at the picture on page 39.
1 Describe the scene to your partner. Do you know who these three
people are?
2 Look at the man on the right in particular. What is he doing? Why
do you think he is doing this?
3 What do you think the characters are saying to each other? With
your partner, create a short dialogue for this scene.
2 Fill in the gaps
The extract below is taken from the next chapter of this book. Read
and complete the extract. Write ONE word for each space.
When I wa

I was in great pain. I was very confused. I knew that I was
