A group of Puritans, known as pilgrims, crossed the Atlantic on a ship called Mayflower and settled in Plymouth, Massachusetts, in 1620. A much larger Puritan colony was established in the Boston area in 1630. By 1635, some colonizers They were already emigrating to nearby Connecticut.
