Description: A small star learns that greatness is not in its size, but in the sincerity of its heart.

Characters: Little Star, Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, Star 1, Star 2, Star 3

FIRST ACT

Estrellita is a small star that lives in the sky and is trying on her silver dress again. Behind her, the scenery shows us a magnificent starry sky, with galaxies and nebulas.

Estrellita: What a beautiful night you are doing today, I don't know why, but I feel that something very important is going to happen today. I hope my new dress helps me shine.

Three stars enter the scene, dressed in dresses much more luxurious than his own and look at her contemptuously.

Star 1: Do you shine? Have you not seen yourself in a mirror?

Star 2: Look how tiny you are! And how ugly your dress is!

Estrellita: What's wrong? I always do my job with great enthusiasm, giving my best.

Star 3: It is not enough. Accept it, you are so poor and insignificant that you will never be able to give light to an ant.

The stars leave the scene laughing cruelly, while Estrellita bows her head sadly.

Estrellita: They are right, I am so little that I will never be able to enlighten anyone in the world.

Estrellita sits and hugs her knees, depressed.

SECOND ACT

Shrunken in a corner of the sky, the star cries for the comments of her companions. Suddenly, he hears a voice that says his name.

Infant Jesus (voice out of scene): Little star ... star ...

Estrellita: Who is it?

Baby Jesus: It's me, the little baby Jesus.

The little star searches all over the stage, until a small child enters the scene, dressed in a white robe and with an aura on the head.

Estrellita: But what a beautiful child you are! What do you want of me?

Baby Jesus: I want you to illuminate the humble portal where I was just born, there in Bethlehem. May you know that I have chosen you for such an important task.

Little Star: Me? But Jesus, don't you see how small and insignificant I am? There are stars brighter, bigger and prettier than me.

Child Jesus: I do not want the biggest star or the brightest or prettiest. I want a sincere and good-hearted star, and you are. Come to Bethlehem to illuminate my birth, I will be waiting for you!

The Infant Jesus leaves the scene and the star is thoughtful.

Estrellita: Well, if Jesus needs me, I'm going with him! I don't care what the others say.

The star runs out of the scene.

THIRD ACT

On the portal of Bethlehem that occupies the whole stage, the star descends from the sky, which today smiles with happiness and shines more than ever. The Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph gape at her.

José: Did you see, Maria? It is the most beautiful star I've ever seen.

Maria: There is no doubt that God has sent us to the best of his stars to take care of our son.

José (looking far away): Look! Pastors are coming.

Both begin to clothe the Infant Jesus, who is now a newborn wrapped in blankets, while a celestial choir sounds in the background.
