Bayano was a King among the Maroons. He led the struggles of African slaves in the Isthmus of Panama, during the colonial era. Dexterous in combat, he struck many blows to Spanish slavers who oppressed thousands of men and women by subjecting them to inhuman treatment. Bayano managed to command more than two hundred freedom fighters. Such was the danger that constituted for the oppressive forces, that there were innumerable efforts to subdue it. With deception, Bayano was taken before the Viceroy of Peru, from whom he received honors and then sent to Spain where he died in captivity, in depressing conditions. Bayano is remembered in our history as one of the most fervent defenders of freedom for Afro-Panamanians

South African politician
He was the first president of South Africa to be elected by democratic means under universal suffrage. Before being elected president, he was a leading anti-apartheid activist who, despite being imprisoned for 27 years, was involved in the planning of armed resistance activities. However, the armed struggle was, for Mandela, a "last alternative"; Mandela always used nonviolent methods. During his time in prison, most of the time it is known as the fight against apartheid in South Africa. Despite the rule of apartheid and the allied nations that are considered together with the African National Congress as a terrorist, their struggle was part of the campaign against apartheid.
