Here we can see two important facts about the Karanki people:
- The Karanki or Cara (Kara) is an extinct tongue, probably barbecue of Ecuador. Originally they would have spoken a language of the Barbacoan family, which would have been replaced by Quinchua after it disappeared around the 18th century. Despite this fact, the ancient Karanki language left deep marks in the Quinchua spoken in the province of Imbabura today.
- Since Karanki women are the wisest people in their village, they are responsible for transmitting them verbally through chants, riddles, songs, stories and practical guidelines.
After reading these two facts about the Karanki people, you can also learn that they are called Faces as well and they are known as an ancient culture that came to live in the Sierra Norte of what is now Ecuador.
