was: 1a y 3a singular
were: 2a singular, 1a, 2a, y 3a del plural

1 was (yesterday significa ayer porque debes ponerlo en pasado y como es primera persona del singular: was)

2 were (they es tercera persona del plural)

3 was (my mum: 3a persona singular)

4 was (lo mismo que la 3)

5 were (shops: plural)

6 weren't / were (esta en negativo para el contexto)

7 were (plural)

8 wasn't (contexto y lo mismo que la 3)

9 were

10 was / was

11 were

Pasado simple es añadir al verbo la terminación -ed, si acabe en e solo se le añade -d, si acaba en y esa y cambia a i. Esos son los regulares, luego están los irregulares que te los tienes que aprender, suele venir una lista de esos verbos al final del libro, en tu ejercicio hay varios o si que te los diré, usa el pasado simple (la columna del medio) El ejercicio de pide forma negativa, por lo que es Didn't + verbo normal (presente), aún así te dejo la lista por si te ayuda:
