SUPERIORIDAD
Los comparativos de superioridad se forman del siguiente modo:
Si tienen 1 sílaba: adjetivo+er than.
Tim is faster than Jane (Tim es más rápido que Jane). FAST tiene 1 sola sílaba.
Si tienen 2 sílabas: adjetivo+er than o bien, añadiendo “more” delante del adjetivo positivo.
Eating salad is healthier/more healthy than eating sweets (Comer ensalada es más sano que comer dulces).
Si tienen 3 sílabas o más: se añade “more” delante del adjetivo positivo.
This book is more interesting than the other one (Este libro es más interesante que el otro).
Si terminan en consonante + vocal + consonante: se dobla la última consonante y se añade -st.
This house is bigger than mine (Esta casa es más grande que la mía). BIG – BIGGER
She is fitter than me (Ella está más en forma que yo). FIT – FITTER
Si terminan en -y: se cambia la Y por una I.
This exam was easier than the one before (Este examen era más fácil que el anterior). EASY – EASIER
She seems happier than him (Ella parece más feliz que él). HAPPY – HAPPIER
IGUALDAD
Para comparar dos elementos que están al mismo nivel tenemos distintas posibilidades:
as … as – tan … como
My cake is as good as yours (Mi pastel es tan bueno como el tuyo)
Anne is as fast as Alice (Anne es tan rápida como Alice).
the same … as – la misma … que
I have the same age as you (Tengo la misma edad que tú).
INFERIORIDAD
not so … as – no tan … como
My bed is not so comfortable as yours (Mi cama no es tan cómoda como la tuya).
not as … as – no tan … como
My house is not as big as yours (Mi casa no es tan grande como la tuya).
(not) as much … as – (no) tanto … como
I don’t eat as much chocolate as you (Yo no como tanto chocolate como tú).
(not) as many … as – (no) tantos … como
I don’t have as many bracelets as you (Yo no tengo tantos brazaletes como tú).
less … than – menos … que
This book is less interesting than the other one (Este libro es menos interesante que el otro).
