Peter and Darren work for an ambulance service. After school, they learn about treating people who have been in accidents. They learn how to check if a person can breathe, what to do if he's seriously injured and many other useful techniques to keep a person alive.

Last week the boys had their first experience working in am ambulance duri ng an accident. The paramedic told them to arrange all the equipment, so it would be easily available. Peter was very nervous and he began to shake all over. He hadn't realised before how much courage it takes to treat injured people. At the scene, they saw a man lying on the road. Darren didn't hesitate and went straight to work, doing what the paramedics told him. Peter, on the other hand, stayed in the ambulance in order to make sure that the paramedics got what they asked for. In the  end, they got the man to hospital. It was a great relief to the boys to know that he could survive.
