The American Northeast usually 1) gets a lot of snowfall in the winter, but in early february 2013, forecasts indicated that the blizzard of the century was on its way.
"By the end of the weekend , more snow 2) had fallen in Boston than during any other blizzard in the past 100 years" said one TV meteorologist. "At this time next week, we 3) will still suffer the effects!" Others 4) made similar predictions.
The storm did not turn into the blizzard of the century that meteorologists 5) predicted.
However, it was very severe. While it 6) spread from New York up to England and into parts of Eastern Canada, its winds blew at 130km/h and it dropped nearly a metre of snow in some places.
Despite this, many people enjoyed the weather, doing things like skiing on city roads and in parks. As a man who 7) moved from Los Angeles to Rhode Island two years earlier told a reporter, "We 8) had never seen snow like this before!
