cuando haces oraciones en past simple en inglés es necesario poner expresiones que digan cuando sucedió lo que dices, no es como en castellano que puedo decir
yo lo conocí 
last year /month /night etc
when you were a child
en afirmativo usas el verbo en past simple, pero cuando preguntas o niegas usas el did (auxiliar) pero el verbo vuelve a su forma de infinitivo

el past simple de los verbos regulares se hacen agregando
 ed: played, arrived, listened, etc
los irregulares están en la lista
