History: as a complement to the monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 166 stairs were built to access the Christ. Between 2004 and 2005, within the process of urban regeneration, the Municipality of Guayaquil, remodeled the structure redesigning the stairways and the viewpoint. Therefore, the sculpture was rescued from the passing of the years adapting it to turn the monument into a touristic site.
Attractions: the bas-reliefs of the fourteen stations of de Via Crucis (The Way of the Cross) can be appreciated in the stairways. The sculptures are the work of Chilean Jorge Muñoz, designer of the pieces made of resin and fiberglass that were crafted by sculptor Hans San Andres Tabara. They have an iron structure of 1,50 meters high and 2,50 width, supported by two wood poles inserted in two steel bases.

Historia: como complemento al monumento al sagrado corazón de Jesús, 166 escaleras fueron construidas para acceder al Cristo. Entre 2004 y 2005, en el proceso de regeneración urbana, el municipio de Guayaquil, remodeló la estructura rediseñando las escalinatas y el mirador. Por lo tanto, la escultura fue rescatada del paso de los años adaptándola para convertir el monumento en un sitio turístico.
Atracciones: los bajorrelieves de las catorce estaciones de de Via Crucis (el camino de la Cruz) se pueden apreciar en las escalinatas. Las esculturas son obra del chileno Jorge Muñoz, diseñador de las piezas de resina y fibra de vidrio que fueron hechas por el escultor Hans San Andrés Tabara. Tienen una estructura de hierro de 1,50 metros de altura y 2,5 de ancho, apoyado por dos postes de madera insertados en dos bases de acero
