gerund rules
1. First rule
If the basic form of a single-syllable verb ends in the combination of a single vowel followed by a consonant, double the final consonant before adding to the base of the form.
2. Second rule
If the basic form of a verb with two or more syllables ends in the combination of a single voice followed by a consonant and this last syllable is accented, it doubles the final consonant before being added to the base of the form.
3. Third rule
If the basic form of a verb ends in IC
add the letter k before adding it to the base of the form.
4. Fourth rule
If the basic form of a verb ends in l , double the first one before adding a base to the shape.
