Michael Joseph Jackson1 (Gary, Indiana, August 29, 1958-Los Angeles, California, June 25, 2009) was an American singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, actor and philanthropist.2 3 4 Known as the "King of Pop », 5 contributions and recognition in the history of music and dance, as well as his advertising, personal life, made him an international figure in popular culture for more than four decades. She is recognized as the most successful pop star in the world.6 However, her music included a wide acceptance of subgenres such as rhythm and blues (soul and funk), rock, disco and dance.6
He began his artistic career in the mid-1960s in the musical group The Jackson 5, in which he published, along with some of his brothers, ten albums until 1975. In 1971 he began his career as a soloist, although he continued to belong to the group. In the early 1980s, Jackson became a dominant figure in popular music. His music videos, including "Beat It", "Billie Jean" and "Thriller", from his 1982 album Thriller, are credited as a breakdown of racial barriers and the transformation of the medium into an art form and promotional tool. The popularity of these helped to carry out the MTV television network to fame. The album Bad (1987) produced number one of the singles "I Just Can not Stop Loving You", "Bad", "The Way You Make Me Feel", "Man in the Mirror" and "Dirty Diana" on the Billboard Hot 100, so it became the first album to have five number one singles in that ranking. He continued to innovate with videos such as "Blanco y negro" and "Grito" throughout the 1990s, and forged a reputation as a solo artist on several tours. Through video on stage and video, Jackson popularized a series of complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk, to which he gave the name. Their distinctive sound and style have influenced numerous artists of different musical genres.
